"Free To Be" Written by Caleb Hendricks
Habitual Poetry #7
Free To Be
With all of our needless wars and crooked politicians
We tend to act as if we have a case of tunnel vision
Despite the fight to keep our rights against political attrition
We ignore the vibrant core that gives life unto our mission
America, the land I love, has givin me discretion
To speak aloud the thoughts of doubt I have in each election
Many say that any day they wish for a secession
But I chose to stay in these Great States that give me freedom of expression
We may have issues with the government and how they handle finance
But in the end the moneys spent and we don't have to live in fear of violence
In a country where we're free to speak without the law of silence
We can bitch about the smallest doubt and stand in our defiance
We can't forget from where we sit, a half a world a way
There are millions that are starving while we fight for better pay
We argue over women's rights to supervise beneath her negligee
Other places cauterize between the thighs fot fear they'll be betrayed
Amidst the greedy upper class and rising gas and political frustrations
We keep the right to live our lives without discrimination
So when you hear me speaking freely about my inclinations
Just don't forget that we are blessed to live in this fine nation :)
