"Gears" Written by Caleb Hendricks

Habitual Poetry
Day 1

Gears
A sycophantic war machine
Trade blood for oil and gasoline
Feed the beast with offerings
That leave these civil hands unclean

In that dark the thunder roars
The sky ignites as lightning scores
The beating of the drums of war
Heralding the coming storm

The symbols clash a symphony
The muzzles flash and angels sing
Within this grim cacophony
The children see what gifts we bring

And when the dust has dissipated
The search for hope has been evaded
Another life has been negated
Until the war machine is sated
